Namji Doll - L 84cm - 1726 Apple Red Light DistrictA hand carved Namji (also known as Namchi) doll from Cameroon. Carved from a single block of African rosewood into a bold geometric figure, then dressed in blue beads and finished with cowrie shells, coins, metal and leather. No two are quite alike in stance, face or beadwork. Traditionally these are fertility dolls, given to a bride at her wedding and carried as a good luck charm. Once she has a child, the doll is kept on the family altar or passed
