Japanese Hanging Scroll Crane Lake Picture Hokuyo Toda Kakejiku Kakemono SC777 edo period Item weight: 133 gramVtg Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku This is a vintage Japanese hang scroll Kakejiku. It is a picture of two cranes flying out of the lake. I think it's Hokuyo Toda's art because it has the signature of Hokuyo. Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room.
